Races found in Andvari
The only rule about Races is that there are no half-breeds. Some of them also might have a limited number of spots, on a first come, first served basis. If you have any suggestions for this list, please feel free to PM the admin. Just because the race is perceived as "good" or evil does not mean that all Vampires have to be evil, and all Faeries have to be good!
Humans Humans in Andvari are by far the most diverse culture in the cyber world. Appearances vary, as well as personality and skills. Responsible for much of the advances in technology, although much of this is to protect themselves from other races. Strengths;; Adaptable to most situations, quick to pick up new skills, cunning. Weaknesses;; Takes a long time to recover from injuries, little to no magical prowess.
Elves The elves of Andvari are as diverse as the humans. Light and lithe on their feet, they make ideal trackers. What usually affects Elves the most is where they were raised. Cave elves tend to be darker in both colouring and personality than elves raised in the forests. Do not get along with Vampires. Strengths;; Light, flexible, quick healing, long range combat. Weaknesses;; Short range combat, sometimes considered "fragile".
Vampires Creatures of the night. The vampires of Andvari are certainly not people to make your enemies. They do drink blood, and they are rather susceptible to wooden stakes through the heart(Who isn't though?) They are able to walk during the day, as long as they are wearing heavy cloaks or veils. Rarely will you find an overly joyful vampire. Do not get along with Elves. Strengths;; Flight, immortality(from aging), shadow-porting. Weaknesses;; Direct sunlight, can have uncontrolled blood lust.
Black Mage Black mages can be either female or male. These particular brand of mages practice destructive magic, better suited for combat. Somewhat tend to be a little stuck up, hold a certain contempt for faeries. Strengths;; Combat magic, long range & short range attacks Weaknesses;; Hand-to-hand combat, healing
White Mage White mages can be either female or male. These mages are better suited as healers. Openly caring about the people and creatures around them. Perhaps are too trusting, and open with their abilities. Although they are not entirely defenseless, even the best trained mage cannot take on a hardened swordsman. Strengths;; Can heal people back from the brink of death. Weaknesses;; Hand-to-hand combat.
Faeries Faeries are magical beings. although their powers are not so cut and dry as combat and healing, they possess a large knowledge of spells that can come in handy. Faeries usually have gossamer wings on their back, and can be either male or female. Some are much more mischievous than others, and some are incredibly helpful. Dislike Black Mages. Strengths;; Light, easily hidden, myriad of spells to use, can fly. Weaknesses;; Somewhat shorter than other species, magic isn't always powerful or relevant.
Werewolf The larger and somewhat more fierce of the races, werewolves are not endangered, but neither are they very common. Most werewolves are kind at heart, if somewhat harsh. They come in good and bad varieties, just as every other species. Their advantage is best on full moons, although they can use their heightened strength and senses at just about any time. Strengths;; Large amounts of strength, good senses, excellent eyesight. Weaknesses;; Not always in control.
Dyr The Dyr are considered the feline equivalent of the werewolf. They usually appear half transformed, like a humanoid cat. They can shift into their full animal form, but only do so to kill and maim. Very strong and swift, even when not in their full cat form, the Dyr are a force to be reckoned with. Strengths;; Hand to hand combat, heightened senses, stealth. Weaknesses;; Take a long time to heal, very arrogant.
Salvicar Lizard like in appearance the Salvicar are known for the brute tendencies. They are larger than average man standing on average 7’1” and appear like standing dragons without wings. Don’t let appearances full you. They are highly intelligent. They have been known to use their long tails as whips and their claws make perfect weapons. Strengths;; Claws, tail, intelligence, hand to hand combat. Weaknesses;; Long range combat, cold-blooded.
Nymphs The nymphs of Andvari come in three basic kinds. Wood Nymphs - Found mostly in forests and wooded areas, wood nymphs are very nature oriented. They can talk to trees, and disguise themselves very easily among the branches. They hate to fight, although they like to cause mischief. Strengths;; Tree talking, stealth, can transport through trees Weaknesses;; Fragile, succeptible to fire
Fire Nymphs - Fire nymphs can easily be found in the hot caverns of the Dogun Mountains, they prefer warm and dry places to live. As you may have guessed, a good deal of these nymphs are hot tempered, and one wrong placed remark can leave you with a scorched face. Strengths;; Fire manipulation, not easily burned Weaknesses;; Water, fragile
Water Nymphs - Found anywhere, and everywhere that has water, whether it be the great Sagio port, or smaller ponds scattered throughout the Hamast forest, these nymphs are among the most common. They can breath underwater, as well as on land, and they can swim faster than the boats can sail. Strengths;; Water manipulation, breathing underwater Weaknesses;; Drought, very warm places.
Both types of nymphs do get along, but sometimes, although rarely you will find them fighting
Sibyls The Sibyls are a curious race of beings. Although normally human like in appearance, with few notable exceptions, Sibyls have the most interesting talent of being able to see the future. There are two types of Sibyls.
Sibyls that can see the immediate future(10 seconds max). This sub-race of Sibyls make excellent fighters, and are quite hard to combat by normal means. Your best bet with a short-sighted Sibyl is to overpower it, and do it quickly. Strengths;; Combat, superhuman reflexes. Weaknesses;; Not always the physically strongest, can somewhat underestimate people.
Sibyls who can sense the distant future (up to 3 months). These Sibyls are are prized for their accurate predictions. To receive a prediction from a long-sighted Sibyl is a grand thing indeed. Strengths;; See things happening in the near-but-not-too-near-future, excellent at strategies. Weaknesses;; Not exceptionally strong, not always good fighters.
Sibyls generally get along with each other, although some of them are quite elitist, and refuse to associate with other races.
