OOC Rules
Don’t start fights, and don’t harass other players because of their religion, lack of religion, beliefs, sexual orientation, skin colour, etc.
Please respect the staff. I really put my heart and soul into this place, and I know the others took quite a bit of time out of their schedules, so please don’t make us regret it.
Spelling. There is a spell checker included in Pro boards. A few mistakes here and there aren’t that bad, but PLEASE. If you know you’re a bad speller, use the spell check. Please, feel free to let me know if I've made a mistake anywhere. I recommend Mozilla Firefox as a browser, because it has a spell checker built right in.
You’re allowed as many characters as you want. Although you should be aware that Andvari is really a two for one deal. Per account, you will technically have two characters. One “main” player, and one “Andvari” character. You will need one account per these two characters. If there is any confusion about this, then feel free to ask the admin at (AIM) Macphistoxx, or if you lack AIM, PMs.
If I notice that you are neglecting characters, you will be PMed and questioned about it. You ARE allowed as many as you want, as long as you keep them active.
You must have your high school character accepted before you make an Andvari character. If you fail to obey this rule, your application will be deleted, no matter how detailed it is.
If you’re going to be away for an extended period of time, please post in the Away Board so the administration knows and can preserve your character claim.
If you wish to be a character that exists solely in Andvari or a character that exists solely in the human world, please talk to an admin.
Character Rules
No perfect characters, Mary Sues, Gary Stus, or drama llamas will be accepted. They were beaten, raped, fell in love, had their family/lover tragically killed, house burned down, but are still happy as hell? No.
Try to make your characters diverse. I’ve seen far too many sites where people have the same characters over and over, and over, and it rather annoys me.
If I notice a certain Andvari Race is being over-used, a ban will be placed on that race until further notice.
Special powers will be awarded to the characters of people that I think have gone above and beyond with their posting skill, came up with an absolutely brilliant post/twist, has an extremely original character, etc, etc. Other than that, your Andvari character does not get special powers, (e.g; pyrokinesis, umbrakinesis, hydrokinesis, telepathy, etc.)
RP Rules
As in most forums, the default posting style is 3rd person("He did, she felt, they ate"), past tense. Please stick to that, first person("I did, I ate, I felt") will not be accepted. The only time first person is accepted is if you are telling your characters thoughts, in which case, they should be in italics. Please, try to make it clear when your character is speaking, either using bold or "quotations" or both.
Do not god-mode, power-play, etc. Punches that are thrown, will occasionally land, battles or fights will occasionally be lost, and your character is not all powerful. Any god-moders/power-players will be warned via PM, and then if it continues, will have a 40% warning placed on them. If you are not sure what god-moding is, please contact the admin.
Here, I do realize that writers block does strike, and that not everybody is a veteran to RPing. Please try to post more than one sentence. If you consistently have trouble with this, you will be recommended to the Adopt-a-Newbie program, so somebody can help you improve.
When you are talking in your RP's, PLEASE use quotes ("TEXT"). If you accidentally missed a quote, please go back and fix it. Sometimes it can be hard to tell what was said IC and what wasn't.
Do not post OOC comments in the RP section unless it's accompanied by an in-character comment. Also, please refrain from posting in somebody else's application. If you wish to comment on it, PM's please.
Please be aware that we do allow sex scenes here. Please put "WARNING" or "R" in the thread title. We would prefer if you would try and avoid any "lewd" language. Think more "Harlequin Romance" than hardcore pr0n. If you do not do this, you will be warned. The admin would also prefer that although you are permitted sex scenes, please don't make every other thread one. You will be warned if it is noticed that this is happening.
Misc Rules
RAPE – There will be no character rape unless you have CONSENT FROM THE OTHER PLAYER. Contradictory, eh? Just sometimes, people won’t want their characters to go in that direction, mmkay? Please try not to overuse this plot device.
PREGNANCY – You will need consent from BOTH PARTIES. If the other person doesn’t want to get pregnant, then no, its not happening. You will also need permission from an Admin. If you get denied, then don’t try again for a little while at least, unless you have a superbly awesome reason why you should be having a baby. PM the admin with the following form:

If you intend to apply as a pregnant character, or a character that already has a child please PM this form to the Admin as well. If you plan to get pregnant, but not keep the baby, please inform the Admin anyways, just so I know you’re not breaking the rules.
DEATH - Do NOT kill off ANYONE else's character unless you have their permission. Do not kill off your OWN character unless you have an admin's permission. If the character has deleted their character bio, then the admin has the right to make than an NPC, or write them out of the story.
Graphics
In your signature, please refrain from posting pictures that have nothing to do with your character.
° SIGNATURE SIZE IS RESTRICTED TO 350 PIXELS TALL. Anything bigger than this will automatically be converted to links. The width does not matter, but if the admin gets complaints that it's stretching the page, you will be notified.
No naked people in the pictures. Also, please refrain from gory pictures.
Andvari
Andvari is a rather interesting experience for the students of River Island Academy. Most, if not all of the students, are not aware that their classmates are involved in the same game that they are, and seeing as the game itself prevents the sharing of personal details (e.g; addresses, screen names, real names, etc), it is quite impossible to figure out whom is playing whom. Therefore, none of your characters should know who is playing the other person, and you should not be exchanging names at any point when RPing in Andvari. Also, “code names” or “screen names” of Andvari characters must be no longer than 4 words, and cannot contain numbers, (e.g; sweetiecutiebabii2342 would not be accepted, but Baby, if for whatever reason was chosen as your code name, would be accepted.) Players that “die” in the game are ejected immediately, and are locked out for 24 hours, although they do not lose any items or their place in the game. As noted before, special powers will be awarded by the admin to those deemed worthy, but until you have gotten a PM from the admin stating so, no extra powers will be accepted. River Island Academy
River Island Academy accepts students from all over the world. (Please be reminded, that if you are from Japan, you should have a Japanese name, and if you are from Italy, you should have an Italian name, but if you are from Japan, you should not have an Italian name.) Your character can orginate from anywhere in the world, as long as you come up with a plausible reason why they should end up at River Island Academy. You should be aware that River Island is a boarding school, and as such, students will be required to live in the dorms located on campus. No students may live in a house, or apartment nearby. The closest city to River Island is about 10 minutes away, and is named Stonewall. The largest Metropolian center nearby is New York, located about 4 hours away. Students have free reign to travel to and from Stonewall, although the curfew is 10 on weeknights, and 12 on weekends. Stonewall offers a plethora of entertainment for young people, including the nightclub, chill, a teen friendly club. Alcohol won't be served, so you'll have to bring your own.
